I don't think any conservative in the country wanted John McCain to be the nominee. But we split our votes between Huckabee and Romney and John emerged, not by choice, but by chance. We were pretty depressed, frankly. But then he made us look twice when he chose Sarah Palin. Here was our gal. Gun owner, in your face pro-lifer, evangelical, and not afraid to put government-owned luxury jets on Ebay. Conservatives were, and still are, enthralled. Michael Reagan gave her the greatest compliment when he said "Welcome back, Dad." But now we've come back down to earth and been forced to notice that John's still at the top of the ticket. And he continues to be what we always disliked-- a go-along to get-along Washingtonian that admires more Democrats than Republicans.
But meanwhile Sarah, bless HER heart, is getting the rock-star size crowds while John can pull about as many people as Joe Biden does. So here's my suggestion: if the GOP really wants to have a snowball's chance of winning in two weeks, why not flip the ticket? I mean, what else can the media possibly say about Sarah that they haven't already? Let them yell and scream and carry on about her not having any experience (I mean, she's only run a state while the other three guys have chaired committees...Uh-huh.) We've heard it all already and STILL we support Sarah. So let's do this strategically, say BEFORE the last debate. I think an Obama vs. Palin debate is long overdue. She has already proven to be able to get in his head and mess with him a little bit. And she certainly has larger onions than John does at this point on addressing the things that disturb her (and us) about Obama. I mean geez, McCain at his own rally over the weekend sounded like he was an undecided voter at this point.
And Sarah will do in the debate with Obama what she did with Joe. Smile sweetly, ignore the stupid questions and let him have it. You want to talk about the Pakistan border? Great. She'll address that and then she'll bring up abortion and Ayers and Acorn and Wright. And she'll point out that Obama is a man none of us can trust.
Sarah keeps telling us that there is only one guy in the campaign that has really ever fought for us. And certainly back in the day, McCain did that. But today, there is only one Lady who is truly willing to lay it on the line for the America she loves -- and that person is Sarah Palin. So flip the ticket and let her win.
