The Hubris of the Mainstream Media

Did I really hear Charlie Gibson tell Sarah Palin that because she believes she is ready to be Vice-President that she has a lot of hubris? I heard it distinctly on the World News broadcast. It was missing from the Nightline edit for some reason. Hubris, Charlie? Hubris means "exaggerated pride or self-confidence." Has anyone accused Obama of having hubris?? As a woman, I was offended by that in a way that makes me want to move to Ohio for the next two months and work 24/7 for the McCain/Palin ticket. I live in a solid red state. No worries here. But the thought of Ohio being the tipping point between Obama (the one with the real "hubris" in this contest) and McCain (who I'm not wild about) and Palin (who actually is the only one running who has any real executive experience) makes my eyes twitch.

I have worked as a publicist for 20 years. I work with many clients that are Christians and who appeal to Christian audiences. I have seen, first-hand, the insane almost deranged bias the mainstream media has against all things Christian. What Sarah has done with her mere presence is expose it to the max. The media has come out from behind their cloaks of veined journalism and been exposed for the abhorrent bigots they truly are. And it's getting uglier by the minute.

I don't know if my journalism professor is still alive, but if he is, he has to be violently shaking his head. The overt bias the media is showing in this election is unprofessional and appalling to say the very least. It can't even be called journalism anymore. More like, let's see, a pig without lipstick.

So Obama, who has spent less time in the U.S. Senate than Palin has spent in child-bearing, shows "strength" when he says he's ready to lead. But when Palin says the same thing, well, she's just suffering from exaggerating pride. Please. Hypocrisy aside, the unmitigated gall to say that only because she's a woman is exactly the kind of tripe that is driving women to the voting booths even before they open them. And why that same woman who Charlie dismissed as being hubris-stricken will soon be looking down at the media from the main floor of the Vice-president's mansion. Lipstick in hand.
